Christmas catch-up pt 2

This is part 2 of my Christmas catch-up. These pages are a bit more plain than yesterdays pages, but they get the job done. Once again, I used the Christmas Cheer Simply Scrappin' kit for these quick and easy pages.

I may add more to my pages later. Right now the goal is just to get my pictures on paper along with some journaling because I am sure I will forget the year and everything else the farther I get from the events of this day. You think you will remember it all for ever but you really don't...especially when you have more than one child.

Christmas catch-up

This is part one of my Christmas catch-up. I am trying to catch up on my Christmas scrapbooking. I used the retired Simply Scrapping Christmas Cheer kit. This past Christmas I used some of the papers from this kit to create Christmas tags for our stockings. In January I went to an all day crop and didn't get any farther than my Halloween catch-up so now I am on to Christmas. These pages feature Christmas 2010. I still need to do 2009 and 2011. I chose to start with 2010 because I think our 2010 jammies fit this color combo best.

I stamped snowflakes on the Very Vanilla cardstock in cherry cobbler and marina mist. Then I sued the papers and cardstock adhesive punch outs from the kit. I love using these kits I can choose to stamp or not and still end up with pages that I love! These pages are going to go into our red linen scrapbook where I keep all of the pages from each Christmas. It is so much fun to look back on past Christmas all in one place.

A Simple Thank You

Clean, fresh , and simple is what I was going for with this card. It took me all of twenty minutes to make this card and most of that time was on cutting out parts of the butterflies I layered on top. This is a great card for sharing Stampin' Up! with friends or new customers. I used ink pads but if you were going to carry a "stampin kit" (as introduced in Stampin' Success demonstrator magazine) around with you, you could easily use your markers in place of the pads.

A Beau Chateau Birthday

Oh what fun it was to fiddle around to make this card! This is quite the layered card! I scrummaged around in my scrap box and found these papers and thought I'd put them together to make a birthday card. Turning, layering, cutting, and filing papers and finally adhering it altogether to make a card unlike my usual creations. I wanted to try out the envelope die and use it on a card. I am very proud of the outcome. I don't yet have a recipient for this card, I am going to file it away for someone special.

Inside the envelope I placed a little tag and stamped a birthday cake on it with a little candle. I used the glitter glue to make the cake shine a bit. I stapled some ribbon on my tag and stuck it in the envelope. Next, I added pearls to the envelope because pearls always add a special touch.

Card Recipe:
stamp set: Patterned Party and a sentiment from Easy Events
Paper: Pixie Pink, Very Vanilla, Pink Pirouette, Soft Suede, and Beau Chateau dsp
Misc: pearls, Vanilla Seam Binding, buttons

This One's For the Girls

Yesterday, I shared the male version of this card. Today, this one is for the girls! I absolutely LOVE these colors together. I thought of my youngest son's little female classmate/friend when I picked these colors. She is such a sweetheart and a real girlie girl. I could see her in an outfit made of these colors.I changed out the ribbon on these for variety...okay, really because I couldn't decide so I thought why make myself commit to one color. Story of my life actually. A quick little story. When I was planning my wedding I couldn't decide if I wanted my bridesmaids to wear lilac or sage...so guess what I did??? I chose both! Two of the ladies wore lilac while the other two wore sage. Our wedding pictures were so colorful. I'm glad I couldn't decide. It made everything that much better.

Here is what the finished card will look like once the number is placed on. I used Stampin' Dimensionals to make the 6 pop up.
His little friends are turning 6 and my middle son's friends are turning 8. I made a total of 6 of these cards. It's hard to just stop at one.

stamp set: Look Who's Turning
Paper: Wisteria Wonder, Pool Party, Calypso Coral, and Sweetshop Specialty dsp
Ink: Concord Crush
Misc: Variety of ribbons
My daughter's friends are turning 11...I have a different idea for them.

Look Who's Turning....

Isn't this a fun looking card? Super easy too! How easy you ask? So easy that I made 8 of them...yes, 8 of them. I am thinking long term here:-) My 8 year old was invited to a party for one of his very good friends. I created this card for the event and then thought...I should make a few more of these cards to keep on hand for the birthdays that come up. My boys get invited to so many birthday cards for their male friends that I thought it would be a great time saver to have some on hand. If you like these, check back tomorrow I'll have the female version of these here to share.
I used my Big Shot and cut out several numbers from 5-8, since we know lots of little boys turning 5, 6, 7, and 8.

This card uses paper from a retired Celebrations Designer Series Paper set. I got the idea for this card from page 91 in the Idea Book & Catalog. It also uses the Look Who's Talking stamp set found on the same page.

PPA 129 - Sketch Challenge

PPA 129 - Sketch Challenge

It's been awhile since I've done a challenge but I thought I'd throw my hat into the ring. Having a sketch really does get the juices flowing more quickly. I think I may have to make an effort to engage in challenges at least twice a month.
My daughter is invited to a sleepover for a friend of hers who's turning 11. Tuesday is her actual birthday but the party is this weekend...I am sooo ahead and loving this feeling! Thank you to Paper Pals for helping me to get an idea together quickly. I told my daughter that I wish I'd made this card for her birthday because I like it that much. She said she's happy with the card I made for her so I'm happy too....although I might make another one for her anyway as an extra and write in it 11 reasons why I love her. That will be a quick and easy list!

Be My Valentine

Happy Valentine's Day! I saw this cute Explosion box. I usually don't try anything that requires multi steps and scoring, etc...busy working mom, my time is limited for playing with paper. I know...sad right? Anyway I saw this box and decided it was worth the time. I created one for my daughter. She loves chocolate kisses so of course I put some in. It was easy to make and I absolutely love the end result. I hope she appreciates it
It is such madness in my home to get everyone ready for Valentine's Day. I have been having lots of fun with my heart punch. Each year there is always lots to get ready. Our gifts to them, their gifts to their classmates and other treats...so much to do. I never start soon enough and then it comes down to staying up late the night before finishing everything up. That is definitely what happened:-) but at least everyone will be happy heading off to school today.
This card is for my youngest son. I thought he would get a kick out of the truck with the exploding hearts. This Loads of Love stamp set is still one that I absolutely love to play with.
Here's another card using the Loads of Love stamp set. This one is for my middle son. He likes sparkly things so I decided to use the glitter glue. I hope he enjoys it.
This card is for a friend of mine. It follows my motto: "Quick and easy. I couldn't find a Valentine's sentiment that I really wanted so I decided to hand write it.

I hope you are spending your Valentine's day with the people you love. Thanks for stopping by...now go stamp something!

Joy Rising!

Happy Birthday to Our BIG girl!
We Love you so very much.

I love the words "Joy Rising," and I think they perfectly describe my daughter's emotions as she anxiously awaited the day of her birth to approach. Two days ago we celebrated her birthday. It was a perfect day. She had an early birthday party which she LOVED and then came the waiting of 13 more days for her actual big day to arrive; the birthday she'd been talking about since Christmas mainly because of the present she was anxious to receive. She and our son wanted the same thing for their birthday. His birthday was in December so he got his first while she watched with great desire. I am so proud of her patience because in the end she got just what she wanted.

I made this page using MDS (My Digital Studio). You can now get a 30 day free trial of the downloadable MDS Express. Click here for more information so you can give this awesome software. I love that I can catch up on my favorite tv shows while creating a page. No mess and no clean up and whalla...a finished product.

Joy Rising!

A Notable Thank You!

I found this super cute card on Stacey's Stamping Stage. Cute right? Well, check hers out, she definitely has the step it up version. She used some different papers and ribbon but I kept her basic layout. This is such an elegant card. I couldn't wait to make it and now I can't wait to send it to someone. Do you like my embossed bird? Doesn't it look shiny? I made this card at one of my classes and the bird was the hit. Everyone loved the magic of embossing. It never gets old!

Happy 11th Birthday!

Today is the big day for my growing girl! My oldest and only daughter turns 11 today! She is beyond excited for this day. She's been counting down since Christmas. She seems more excited this year than any other year that I can remember. The birthday tradition in our house is that the birthday person gets to pick where we go for dinner. Her choice...Olive Garden, so that's where we'll be tonight! I was inspired by a cute card on Mary Fish's blog. I added a layer, some ribbon, and changed the sentiment and the dimensions of the card.
For the inside, I stamped a greeting and added another gift. I think decorating/stamping the inside of a card just adds a little something special. I hope she likes it.

An Element of Style

I found this cute card in the IBC (Idea Book and Catalog) right on page 182. I thought it was so cute that I had to make it! It's not my usual style but so very elegant looking and best of all...simple to make. I changed the color and a couple of other little things but the card layout and features are pretty much the same. My favorite part is the little bird with the pearl for an eye. For my class we made it using the Regal Rose card stock.

Later after my class I found a piece of Tangerine Tango just begging to be used so I thought I'd grant its' wish and see how this same card would look in Tangerine Tango. I think I like it. I like it in the Regal Rose best but this color is not a bad option. The ladies at my class liked this card, hope you like it too! Which color do you like best?

It's Your Day

This is another card from my most recent card class. I made this birthday card with my sister in mind. What do you think of these colors together? Nice right? I used my handy color coach. I really should use it more often. My favorite part of this card is the flower. I used the fancy flower punch and punched two. I loosened the fibers of the petals of the top flower and slightly pulled back the top layer just on the petals. I off set the two flowers and adhered them to each other. This gives the appearance of several flowers. This was a super quick card. I love how it turned out.

A Cupcake Event

This sparkling card was created with one of my friends in mind. She loves all things sparkly...like a little good stamper. I used some Silver Glimmer paper, and some of the Everyday Enchanted Designer Series Paper from the Sale-A-Bration catalog. After coloring the cupcake we used the Silver glitter glue to make it sparkle. The ribbon and brad are also from the Sale-A-Bration catalog. The cupcake comes from the Easy Events stamp set.

Winter Card Class

This past weekend I had a card class with some of my friends from work. We had a great time. The ladies loved the cards. We stamped 5 cards. Three of the five cards were cased from some talented stampers and the other two were created by little ole me. This first card I cased from my second level upline, Gail Murray. I varied the papers a bit but kept with the same color scheme as hers. She shared this card at a recent meeting she held at her home. When she showed it to us our mouths fell open in awe. This card had the same effect on the ladies at my class. It's called a Box-Top Fold Valentine. I am sure you are going to like it too! Think of the possibilities!
When you open the card it looks like this:
The inside of the card has a single heart inside, stamped with a Valentine message. One of my friends had a hard time deciding which patterns to use for her hearts so she put three hearts on the inside.
Didn't she do an awesome job! Well she started a trend and soon after this several people were creating cards with several hearts on the inside of the card.
Here is my creative friend, Marie. Every time we stamp together she takes my design and makes so much more out of them. Always making them cuter. Thanks Marie!
Here are my stamping friends/co-workers. They make an evening zoom by. I always look forward to stamping with them.
I have been stamping with some of these ladies for years. Four of the ladies were newbies to our stamping events. Everybody had a grand time a most voted this card as one of their favorites.
