Oh' Happy Day with Eastern Elegance

I may have said this already and if, so just pretend you're hearing it for the first time...  I think I have a new favorite stamp set.  It's the Starburst Sayings stamp set from the Celebrate the Everyday Occasions catalog. I especially love the Framelits Dies that coordinate with this set. It is a 6 piece stamp set with sayings for a few different occasions. the oh' Happy Day, just happens to be my favorite of the bunch. I was inspired by a card made by Jacque Williams. I changed the color combination and the dsp.
If you want to step up your card a bit you can add some texture to the base. This happened just by chance. My 7 year old wanted to "help," so he asked if he could run my white sheets through the Big Shot. Of course I said yes and I am so glad I did. He used the Decorative Dots Embossing folder and stuck 2 sheets of Whisper White card stock in at a time and they came out perfectly. He had so much fun doing this. I better keep my eye on my card stock and him or all of my card stock will mysteriously become dry embossed. Lol! I also added the little celebrate image from the Starburst stamp set just to add a little bit extra to my card.
Here is the same card with two different images as the focal point. I'm not sure which card I like best. Now, I just need to think of someone to send them to.

Sale-A-Bration Banner Blast Easy to Stamp Card

This is a late post for me.. but it is still Monday, so...Happy Monday! That's what I tell myself to give me the extra boost of energy to get back into the work frame of mind. Yesterday, even my 10 year said, "I hate Sunday afternoons?" I asked why, and he said because it means we go back to school tomorrow. I think we just love being home together and moving at our own schedules. I'm fine once I get to work. I love the kids and people I work with! I think I just want longer weekends (he-he) I may be just a tad bit spoiled from all of the snow days we've had...so I'm not use to the 5 day work week yet! Lol!

I did get some stamping done over the weekend. Lots, actually so that always makes me feel good. I made this card using a few items from the Sale-A-Bration brochure (Banner Blast stamp set, Banner Punch, and Decorative Dots Embossing Folder). I also gave my new Texture Boutique Embossing Machine a try. It is quick, light weight and easy to use. My 7 year old and I were busy putting together some card kits that I had left over from my downline meeting. This is one of the cards from the meeting. I thought it would be a fun quick and easy card idea for a Paper Party (Workshop). Have you gotten any Sale-A-Bration (SAB) stamp sets yet? It's not too late. Place a $50.00 order and then you can select an item from the SAB Brochure. Get started HERE!

A Starburst Sayings Birthday!

I am absolutely loving this Starburst stamp set! I made this fun little card for a friend of my daughter's. My daughter and many of her friends are all turning 13 this month and next. New teenagers! Her friend's favorite color is pink so I chose the pink hues of Primrose Petals and Blushing Bride card stock along with Basic Black and Whisper White. I stamped the Oh' Happy Day image using Black Stazon ink onto Whisper White card stock. It's hard to see but I layered it onto the fun Silver Glimmer paper. I wanted to create a border around the Oh' Happy Day image. The next larger die size was way too big so I decided to use the same sized Framelit on the silver paper and just cut in closer on the Oh' Happy Day image. The layering is very noticeable to the naked eye...it just didn't come through well in my photo. If you look closely you can see it.

On the inside of the card I adhered the number 13 in the fancy Silver Glimmer paper. My daughter added a cute message and was all set to go to her friend's sleepover. I'm sure very little sleeping happened last night. I'll be picking up a very sleepy girl in a few hours. Hope you are enjoying your Saturday. We have a basketball game and a soccer game to get to. I can't wait! I really do enjoy watching my kids play. It's fun to see their competitive side. Hope they win! This is the BIG game for soccer. Keep your fingers crossed. I'll tell you all about it tomorrow.

Watercoloring Made Simple: Stampin' Up! Style!

Another snow fall here in my neck of the woods and that means another two hour delay for school. The kids are still sleeping, they could use the extra hour after five days home for all of us, they aren't use to the early hours yet!  My school did open at noon last Friday, but I had an eye appointment so I didn't go in. I had a sty on my eye and had to have a quick procedure to drain it...yuck!!! It left me wearing an eye-patch for three hours.... Then my hubby took me and my glasses, (I usually wear contact lens!) to New York City to a Jazz Club to see/hear Rachell Ferrell. She was awesome and the food was delicious! I am still wearing my glasses today, my eye doesn't feel ready for contacts. This will be my first time EVER wearing glasses to work. I am sure I will get some second looks and LOTS of questions!!!!

Okay....now to the stamping stuff. One of the reasons I smile. I have gotten so many fun products from the Celebrate the Everyday Occasions catalog and I'm lovin' every bit of it! Have you seen the new Watercolor Wonder Designer Series Note Cards (133362)? They are super cute and measure at just 3-1/2" x 5".

They come 20 in a pack with 4 each of 5 designs. Really fun. I first saw these at my second-level upline's meeting. They are made from the actual Watercolor Wonder paper. It's a nice thick quality for watercoloring. You will absolutely love the texture. For this card, I used Black Stazon ink and inked up the image. I also added some rhinestones to give it some sparkle. This was a super simple card to make. Every now and then simple is just enough!

Life in the Forest Birthday Card

I am having fun playing with the fox from the Life in the Forest stamp set! He is just too cute! I've been stamping him using the Black Stazon ink, stamping his image onto Watercolor Wonder paper and using my Aqua Painter. I love how the Tangerine Tango ink gives him a nice orange/rust-like coloring. An Aqua Painter makes watercoloring so much fun!  I love watching the color lighten and darken based on how much ink I pick up with my Aqua Painter. It's the little things that get me excited, (he-he)

I made this card for the party my boys attended yesterday. Hope the birthday boy liked it!

Gorgeous Grunge and Washi Tape

Happy Saturday! We have another busy Saturday ahead of us. A basketball game, a soccer game, and a birthday party. I'm hoping we can get a movie in tonight. I'm craving some movie popcorn...not the healthiest choice but a favorite treat of mine in the theater.

Well, I'm playing catch up with another card I stamped last month. This one was for my brother. I decided to mix it with some Washi tape and the Gorgeous Grunge stamp set.  They are the perfect pair for a masculine card. Masculine cards are always my greatest challenge. I added some texture by dry embossing the circle and die cutting the number 45 on it. I also sponged the top layer with Crumb Cake ink. This was a quick and easy card. I made a second one to have on hand, but left the circle blank until I know who the recipient will be.

A Glimmery Valentine's Day

Happy Heart Day!

Can you say "Glimmer?" I put a lot of glimmer into this years Valentine's Day cards and am very pleased with how they each turned out. This first one is for my hubby. Sometimes I need a bit of inspiration to get started stamping...and today was one of those days. I came across this wonderful card on my blog hopping trails. It was inspired by Chat's lovely card. See it HERE. I love cards that are both simple and elegant. I changed the color scheme and used Designer Series paper in place of stamping the background and of course I added a glimmery heart. I used the new Boutique Embossing machine for my dry embossing. It was super easy. Lots more winding of the handle but super easy to pull out and use. I will definitely be taking it with me to my upcoming Paper Parties. This card also uses a Your So Lovely, Sale-A-Bration stamp set,  Gorgeous Grunge, and the Chevron background stamp.
This card, I made for my darling daughter. It was inspired by Ilina Crouse. She is an amazing stamper. See her original card HERE. I love the sentiment from the Vivid Vases single stamp. I used my Stampin' Write marker and inked up just the wording. It's a pretty simple and clean looking card, just what I was in the mood for. I hope my Zoë girl likes it!
I made a few of these cards for my boys. It is a 4" X 4" size card. Perfect for my little boys. They will be happy with this small size. I decided to layer the glimmer paper for this one. I love the way the silver glimmer paper makes the red stand out. The pattern paper is from the Fresh Prints Designer Series Paper Pack  (132996) in the Occasions catalog. The stack has so many pretty pages to choose from and so many with the color red. This one here became my instant favorite. I also used it on the card for my hubby. Again, I used the sentiment from the Vivid Vases (133818)  single stamp.

Well, I am off to get our busy day started. We will be having heart shaped waffles just before I run off to work. We have a 2 hour delay due to all of yesterday and this morning's snow. My lucky kiddos have the day off and get to stay home with my hubby. Hope you are enjoying Valentine's Day with your loved ones.

The Fox Says, "Happy Birthday!"

It's been a while but I am popping in and I have a fun card to share. First of all, we are having another SNOW day here in the Northeast. Schools are closed and there are at least 8 inches of snow on the ground and it is supposed to continue all day and into the early hours of tomorrow.... which gives me a little bit of free time.

Life has been so busy that blogging has gotten pushed to the back burner. I've stamped a bit, taken some photos and sent some off before I could get a picture of them. I really hate when that happens! We have a new teenager in the house. Our girl, Zoë turned 13 this past  Monday. This card was the brain child of my second level upline, Gail Murray. She shared one at her last downline meeting and I knew instantly that Zoë would LOVE this card. I changed the colors from her original design a tad bit to add Zoë's favorite color, purple.
Zoë loves her card! She thought it was very cool. She asked, "Mom, how did you do this?" I love getting that question. It lets me know my work was appreciated and that's a good feeling!
I am enjoying all of the new fun products in the occasions catalog. So many choices and so little shelf space. What's a girl to do? Buy more shelves (ha-ha!)
