Happy Birthday...You're Amazing

Last weekend my daughter was going to a sleepover for a friend's birthday and needed a quick card. I decided to use the birthday sentiment from the You're Amazing stamp set. I love the boldness of this stamp and thought it would work well on a card for a 12 year old as well as any age range. I made two cards using the same products with a few slight changes and got two similar looks with a couple of noticeable differences. Both cards also use the cake from the Make a Cake, stamp set, Melon Mambo ink, and Dazzling Diamonds. For the first card, which I actually made second, I used a retired black satin ribbon. I love what black does to a card. It creates a boldness that not many other colors can produce.
For the second card I dug into the embellishments from the Artisan Embellishment Kit found in the Spring Catalog. I decided to use one of the resin flowers. I folded it in half and offset it a bit. I didn't realize their were two flowers in this kit and I think I used both of them on this card. Oh well, whatcha gonna do? This is the one my daughter took with her to the party. I hope her friend liked it!

Card recipe:

Ears To You...Again

Here's another take on the Ears To You stamp. It's one of the single stamps being offered by Stampin' Up! It's only 6.95. You can purchase it through my online website HERE. I tried to make this card clean and simple. Just like yesterday's card, I used the marker to stamp technique to vary the colors of the bunnies. I think they are so adorable! This card was super quick and easy. I think the white ribbon creates a softness to this card that I really like. I am hoping to use this stamp to make more cards. I can't wait to see what else I can come up with.

Card Recipe:
Stamp set: Ears to You
Card Stock: Primrose Petals, Summer Starfruit, Whisper White
Ink: Stampin' Write markers - Primrose Petals, Summer Starfruit, and Gumball Green
Accessories: Whisper White 3/8" Taffeta Ribbon

Ears To You Easter Card

Today's card is the last card from Sylvia's Paper Party. Sylvia requested an Easter card and the Ears To You, single stamp is so cute that I just couldn't resist using it. I used the marker to stamp technique to make the card more interesting. I used my Stampin' Write markers to color the images of the rabbits in Primrose Petals, Summer Starfruit, and Gumball Green. I chose not to ink up the "Ears to you," wording on the stamp and used the Easter Wishes sentiment from a different stamp set. This card was fun and easy to make. The ladies really liked this card.

Card Recipe:
Stamp set: Ears To You
Card Stock: Primrose Petals, Summer Starfruit, Whisper White, and the polka dot patterned paper from the In Color Designer Series Pack.
Ink: Primrose Petals, Summer Starfruit, and Gumball Green Stampin' Write markers

Easy Events Birthday Tag

Here is another project from Sylvia's Paper Party. This birthday tag was made using the birthday stamp from the Easy Events stamp set. I got this idea right out of the Stampin' Up! Idea Book and Catalog, on page 35. I changed the colors a bit and added some glitter. I am starting to embrace more glitter in my projects. It seems my customers really like it and I have to admit, it does add to any project! In order to watercolor on my tag, I used the Watercolor paper and blender pens. I love the watercolor paper, it's sturdy and also absorbs the color while at the same time it maintains the color for a beautiful outcome. For the hole in the tag I used 2 circle punches. I punched with the smaller hole punch and then centered the hole made from the smaller circle punch, using the bigger punch to create the re-enforcer to cover the hole where I tied the linen thread. Hope that made sense!

Tag Recipe:
Stamp set: Easy events
Card Stock: Watercolor Paper
Ink: Black Stayzon, Pool Party, Summer Starfruit, and Raspberry Ripple
Accessories: Linen Thread, Dazzling Diamonds Stampin' Glitter, Blender Pens

Just Believe...

Wisteria Wonder! I just LOVE this color and how well it works with black! I made a card like this  awhile back and was reminded of it when I visited Dawn Olchefske's blog. Her card is very much like this one but I added a sentiment and used a different embossing folder. This is one of the cards we made at Sylvia's Paper Party. I had a wonderful time stamping with Sylvia and her friends and family. All of the ladies were simply wonderful and I hope to stamp with them again in the future.

For this card I also added some basic pearls in the centers of some of the flowers. I didn't think of adding this bit of a pop until after I got home from Sylvia's Paper Party. That's the funniest part about creating...at least for me...I just keep adding little bits of interests onto my cards even after my events.

MDS2 - Birthday Card for Zoë

(MDS2-Ink Splatter, Piece of Cake Embellishments, Simple Numbers, etc)
My big girl turned 12 years old today! My, my...how time flies by. She wanted to have a sleepover with some of her school friends, so we hosted an overnight sleepover for 8, 11-12 year olds. I sent my husband and my little boys away for the night to make it an all girl event. The girls had a ball. My daughter was thrilled to celebrate and share this time with her friends. Above is the card I made for her. With all of the planning and preparations, I did not have a chance to get into my stampin' space to get the creative juices flowing so I used MDS2 (My Digital Studio 2) to create this hybrid card. A hybrid card is when you create a card that is a combination of digital and paper crafting. I used the MDS2 for the cover of the card. I then layered the front onto Raspberry Ripple card stock (I love the richness of this color). For the final touch, I used Crystal Effects on the balloons. Making them pop and shine. Every card can use a bit of a pop and a shine.

My daughter and her gal pals. These girls can keep late hours. They are a great group and get along well with each other. This was the easiest sleepover ever! Two weeks a ago my 9 year old son had a sleepover with nine, 9 year olds. The dynamics were incredibly different. One of the many things the girls did was play "hide-and-go-seek" I could have been conducting a business call while they were playing. Two weeks ago, not so much! LOL!
My twelve year old, looking mighty proud! Happy Birthday to "My girl!" She is quite the little lady.

I now have two cards that I will be adding to my next Paper Party. Super cute! Hope your weekend is off to a wonderful start. I am headed to Ohio for a Reading Conference. I am so excited. I'll be back on Monday. I am hoping to get another post out but it may not happen until I return. Ta-ta!
