An Easy Wow! Label Thinlit Card

This card uses the Label Thinlits Die (133479). It's  a card from my Holiday Card class. I wish I could remember who I sent this one out to. I have been having lots of fun with this die. I have made a few birthday cards that I will be sharing soon so stay tuned. The cute little envelope was made from the brilliant envelope punch (133774). I simply LOVE this punch and all of the amazing things you can create with it. Both were made using the Winter Frost Specialty Paper (132341).
Here is a peek at the inside of the card. I used a 5-1/2  X  8-1/2 sheet of cardstock to create this card. By using this length I was able to have an additional flap for my hidden message. Other product used includes:
Foil Sheets (132178)
Silver Brushed Card stock (100712)

A Fancy Folds Card

Fancy folds are one of my new favorites things to do when making cards. I love the cute little pockets. They create a great spot to stick little things, like a note card or even a gift card. This is one of the cards we made at my Holiday Card Class. I am hoping to have a fancy folds class early next year. Keep a look out for the date. This card idea came from Kelly Gettelfinger. She has some awesome videos with step by step instructions. She has a variety of cards with all kinds of folds and pockets. Check her out HERE.
Not only does the outside of this card have a pocket but.... wait for it.... the inside does too! Just imagine all of the possibilities for this little gem. The ladies in the class really liked this card. I used papers from the Winter Frost Specialty Designer Series Paper which has some gorgeous patterned papers.  Check them out in the holiday catalog. You have just until January 2nd so act fast!

Banners!!!!!!!

Stampin' Up! is always on trend. Look at the beautiful holiday colors that came in this Christmas Banner Simply Created Accessory kit! (132697) A few weeks ago I held a Banner class. This is a sample of the banner we made.
Here is a closer look at the lollies. These were fun to make. It was the first time for each of the ladies. One thing I added that wasn't in the Banners kit, is the silver glimmer snowflake using the Festive Flurries stamp set (131778) and dies (132193) from the Holiday catalog. Purchase them a a bundle and save 15% (133284).
The trickiest part was getting the lollies to stay attached to the twine. First, I tried sticky strip above and below the twine on a 2- 1/2" circle....but that didn't last, so a hot glue gun was definitely needed for durability. We also used it on the buttons and ribbon....pretty much to attach just about everything.
I wish I had taken pictures of how beautiful the ladies banners turned out. I chose to use the word Peace. One stamper created a snow banner and I think there was a holly one too! They all turned out really well. We learned that they were very portable. When the banners were done and hot glue had cooled we were able to fold them over and place them in zip loc bags to transport them away.
Since most of our house is decorated in red and gold, I decided to hang my banner in our dining room. It's perfect on the china cabinet. I got lots of compliments on it on Christmas day. I think I will make a snow one just so I can have another one to hang here for just a bit longer. Have you made a banner yet? Leave a comment with a link to a picture of yours. I would love to see what others have come up with.

Christmas Tags

I know it's after Christmas but I want to share how I used the Stamp a Tag Kit 132806 from the Holiday Catalog. A few weeks ago I held a Christmas Tag Class. Each attendee received the Stamp a Tag Kit as part of their class fee. It comes with 24 tags, two stamps and a Cherry Cobbler ink spot and also an Old Olive ink spot. Each person left with 24 completed tags. The tags were used as the top layer for each tag. All materials were pre cut and punched so stampers just needed to stamp and stick. There was indeed lots of stamping and adhering and when all was stamped and done the finished project was all set and ready for some cute gift adorning.

I used many of mine for teachers tags. I also made more to give out with little holiday favors for some of my colleagues.

Thanks for stopping by.

The Day After the Big Day

Another wonderful Christmas day has come and gone! I truly love this time of year and am a little sad to see it go by. I love sharing and hearing the story of Jesus. I love the spirit of giving, the decorations, the joy in the eyes of children and so much more. This year was extra special. I am so thankful to be in good health and have this time with my family and friends. I hope it has been a wonderful Christmas for you and yours.

I made this years card using MDS. It was quick and easy. It is a trifold card. (I didn't realize it until it arrived. Did you know you can rush your MDS projects? Well, you can. I placed the order and had it shipped in 2 days time so that I could get them out before Christmas. It was sooo worth the rush. Once I folded the card it looked kind of bare so I added a snowflake. What do you think?
I really love the silver ribbon. I ran out while putting the finishing touches on my card. I had to use pool party for the last few. So glad it will still be available in the Occasions catalog. Yippee!

I know I haven't been posting lately and am hoping to blog more often. I've had lots of events just haven't been blogging about them. Stop back by, I am going to share them for the next few days to make Christmas last just a bit longer.

Hope you enjoy! Thanks for stopping by and may the Christmas spirit last a bit longer for you and your family.

Birthday Swing Card and $25 Stampin' Up! Kit Offer

Happy Monday! There are so many exciting things happening with Stampin' Up! First, let me share this fun Birthday Swing Card. It uses Stampin' Up!'s  new Circle Thinlit. This card was lots of fun to create. It has an additional fold that provides room to write a personal message for the receiver.

It measures 8-1/2"  X 11" just as your normal A2 card. Notice the additional fold here. To make the extra fold let the extra paper hang over the edge of the Thinlit so that it does not get cut when run through the Big Shot.
Here is another view. In this picture you can see the rhinestones that are placed on the cake. The opposite side of the circle says Happy Birthday. I thought the background was a bit too busy so I flipped the DSP over for the first pictures shown.

Card Recipe:

A Yippee-Skippee Thanks!

If you scroll back you will see what this card looked like for the original design but with some quick changes, I turned it into a Thank You card. Cute right? Not only is it a bright happy card, it's another quick and easy one. We all need a little quick and easy when it comes to cards and this fits the bill. It also comes from the Yippee-Skippee! Stamp set, that we got free at Convention. It's one of Shelli's favorites and she shared it with all of us. I think it may become my favorite sentiment set from this current catalog...there are so many to choose, I may adjust my choice in 2 weeks Ha-ha!
What do you think of this pretty paper? Cute right? It's the Quatrefancy Specialty paper.

A Quick and Easy Thanks!

I am spending more time here and there getting some stamping done. I have soooo many thank you cards that I want/need to get out. I have sent thank you emails but still feel a card is in order. I had lots of card kits left over from previous Paper Parties, so I am using these pieces to create Thank you cards. This one is for some of my co-workers. I am a Reading Specialist at an Elementary School. There are six Elementary Schools in my district and each have a Reading Specialist with my same title. Well, they all got together and sent some pampering my way, so I wanted to send some thanks back their way. I love this Awesome Thanks sentiment. It says it all and is what I am feeling. This set comes from the Yippee-Skippee! Stamp set, which all attendees got for free at Convention!

A Special "Big" Thanks!

Sent by Helene Graziano
While home recuperating, I've gotten lots of beautiful cards sent my way, a few hand stamped cards along with adorable store bought cards. They are all so very pretty, but I thought I'd share the hand stamped ones with you today. In addition, so many people have been so kind and thoughtful and have sent my family so many gifts and treats. I haven't had the energy to cook so the kindness of others has really helped us out a lot!!! I am very thankful for all of the specials thoughts, emails, cards, and gifts, help with my kids, help with laundry, and cooking that have helped to lift my spirits and focus on healing.

Yesterday, I noticed this sign on my daughter's door. It was cleaning day and I guess her room wasn't in "cleaning condition." She is such a middle school girl.

We were well overdue for cleaning. I had cancelled a couple of sessions for our vacation and also for my surgery and my "not getting out of the bed at all time," so we really needed it. I guess she will have to get her own room together. Middle School is keeping her busy. She is even thinking of  (Wait for it...) joining the field hockey team.....Let me explain, my 12 year old knows nothing about hockey, doesn't care for running and LOVES the indoors....Yep, and she is considering Field Hockey. The coach of the team needed one other player and noticed my daughter had her physical signed and in the the nurses office for sports (She, the daughter, had it completed because was thinking of joining the dance troop...) I am excited for her and hope she joins. I think it would be good for her to be a part of a team and I would love to go see her play. Here's to keeping my fingers crossed. She is making her mind up today and if the answer is yes...off to the sports store she and my hubby will go to suit her up. Of course, I will share pics of her first game is she does it. Fingers crossed.

Have a wonderful day!

A Paper Pumpkin Idea

These pages were made using the July Paper Pumpkin kit. The materials were intended to be used for a cake topper but ...I didn't need a cake topper and when I saw these amazing scrapbook pages on Jill Hilliard's blog, I thought...Hey, that's exactly what I am going to do with mine. So I copied hers, like A LOT!!! Hope she doesn't mind. What do the say about imitation? It is the sincerest form of flattery. Well, I love Jill's pages so I made mine to resemble hers. I sued some different colors but it is totally her brainchild.

Did you get your Paper Pumpkin this month? Mine came in the mail yesterday. Since I am home recuperating and my energy isn't yet up to par, I haven't gotten to it. Hoping to give it a try tomorrow. If you have made yours or did something creative with yours leave a comment and/or a link to your post. I'd love to see it.

Haven't signed up for yours yet? You can do it HERE. Please add me as your demonstrator.

Back To School in MDS

The 12 year old on her first day of middle school - 7th Grade
Being home, one would think I'd find a way to stamp all day...only one problem with that scenario...I have noooooo energy. I would love to spend my days creating in my stamp room! It took me a few days to put these pages together using MDS (My Digital Studio), with lots of napping in between. I even cheated by duplicating the pages and making slight changes for each one. Huge time saver and it made this oh so easy!!! I used the Old School September Digital Kit (item # 134978) Thank goodness for MDS, I can create on my computer while lying in my bed.

These pictures were taken on the first day of school for my kids. Being home, I was able to see them off...so nice...I held my husband's hand as we walked them to the corner (Doctor's orders, walk a bit. I use to have to walk around the hall in the hospital to keep my blood circulating), then I crawled back into bed for a four hour nap...so NOT kidding. I napped for four hours after they left. I was exhausted!!!! Needless to say, I did not get them off the bus. Noooo energy left. My 12 year old middle schooler met the younger two at their bus stop and watched them until mu hubby returned form work.
The 9 year old on his first day of fourth grade!
If you look closely at these pages you will see slight changes. On this one, the 2013 is on the clipboard and the background paper behind the picture is different than the one on my daughter's page. My nine year old said his first day of school was, "Great!" He really likes his new teacher. Those are words every mother likes to hear. When your kids like their teacher the year is off to a great start. Yippee!!

The 7 year old on his first day of second grade!
On this page, the 2013 is on the bottom photo and on the clipboard it says 1st day. I asked my 7 year old how his day was and he summed it up in one word, "Exhausting!!" Poor thing was too use to lazy summer days at home and now he needs more energy to get through the day. He too likes his teacher. I am beyond thrilled because he is the one that really needs to have a connection with his teacher for the year to go smoothly. We are definitely off to a great start. A double "Yippee," from me!!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

I Am a Cancer Survivor...

For That, I Am Thankful.....(Not My Usual Crafting Post)
Modern Medley Designer Print Paper, Another Thank You Polymer Stamp set 133454

Two weeks ago, I underwent surgery to have my left kidney removed. I was diagnosed to have a tumor/mass on it and my doctor wanted to remove it. Before surgery, he told me he believed it to be a benign tumor. That gave me some comfort and it also had a bit of a calming effect on me as I mentally prepared myself for the procedure. I shopped 3 weeks early for my kids school supplies and picked out and lay out their first day clothes. I wanted to make sure I left everything in order...just in case...

As you can tell, everything worked out fine and I am here to tell the tale. My doctor was able to remove my kidney in tact and glued (Yay!!) me back together. I was in the hospital for 4 days recuperating before coming home to recuperate some more. During this time I have become a pro at naps and pill popping. I am hoping to soon stop the latter and get in as many of the former (naps that is) as I can before going back to work.

Yesterday, I went in for my post Op Surgical Follow Up....and this is when I got a real eye opener. My doctor informed me that the tumor in my kidney was indeed cancerous...AND malignant. Stage 1B Papillary Renal Cell Carcinoma. The best news is that the tumor was confined to the kidney...and even more, it was mostly "dead." What? Yeah!!! dead!!! The tumor started to run out of its blood supply so it could not grow anymore... (Did it die from all of my praying and the prayers of my family and friends??? I would like to think so.) When my doctor left the room to get a prescription for me, my husband turned to me and said, "You're a cancer survivor." I was living with cancer and didn't even know it. I am so thankful that it was found and removed and even more....I am thankful that no more treatment is needed. My Cancer story isn't like most that you hear with Chemo, Radiation and such. I didn't have to do any of that. I didn't know I had cancer until I didn't have it anymore. Even without knowing, I am full of all kinds of emotions. I'm speechless, and thankful at the same time as well as scared and relieved at the same time. so....many....emotions! I'm not sure what I should be. It is a scary feeling knowing that cancer was living in me while I stamped in Utah, and sunned in South Carolina. I thank God that I am where I am now, and that everything worked out. I feel both lucky and blessed. I have learned to listen to my body and and am thankful to have found the best doctor. After my appointment, I sat down with my 12 year old daughter and told her about the cancer that lived in my body. After a few moments, she smiled, looked at me and said the exact same statement her father said 2 hours prior, "I guess that means you are a Cancer Survivor!" She is more like her father every day and sooo mature!!!
Envelope using the Envelope Punch Board 133774
I made this Thank You card and envelope for my co-workers.  They sent me an awesome gift for my recovery. Being off my feet, meals happen to be our greatest challenge and their gift made meal time a lot easier for us so this card is my thank you to them. It's been weeks since I've stamped anything and having this be the first thing I've stamped is a good feeling. I stamped this card and crawled back into bed. It was exhausting...funny I know, but true! I think I slept a good 2 hours after making this card and envelope. After writing this, I realize I need to add another card to my growing list. A card for the wonderful medical staff that took care of me for four days on the 9th floor at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. The are the BEST at what they do...Amazing!!! I am proud to accept and acknowledge that I am indeed a Cancer Survivor!

A Quick and Easy Thinking of You Card

Thinking of You is a sentiment that I seem to need most often in a card. This card is from Barb's Paper Party earlier this month. These flowers are from the Flower Shop stamp set and were so much fun to stamp and punch out. There are six different flower patterns to choose from in this set and they are each equally cute! Although settling on just three flowers was hard, the punching proved to be the most challenging part as you have to line up the flower just right with the Pansy punch it without cutting off part of the leaves. It was easier for me than for the it was for Barb and her guests but they all got the hang of it and were very pleased with their cards. This card is very vibrant and colorful!

Really Good Greetings...A Super Cute Card!

Today's card is super cute! I cased it from my second level upline, Gail. You can see hers HERE. This was one of the cards guests made at my August Paper Parties. The ladies thought this was a funky, grungy kind of a card. It's easy to make and fun too! I stamped the blotches using the Grunge stamp set onto the Daffodil Delight patterned paper. I LOVE the effect it made. Cute right? It is super easy to recreate! I am really starting to like the Gorgeous Grunge stamp set. It is super cool! We got this stamp set at Convention. So glad, because to look at it in the catalog, I probably would not have chosen it...but there are lots of possibilities with this one. You can definitely expect to see more from me using this stamp set.

Card Recipe:
Stamp sets: Mosaic Madness, Gorgeous Grunge, and Really Good Greetings
Ink: Daffodil Delight, Strawberry Slush, and Island Indigo
Card stock: Daffodil Delight, Island Indigo, Whisper White, and Quatrefancy Specialty Designer Series paper
Accessories: White Baker's Twine

The family and I are in Myrtle Beach, SC, having a blast. I'm hoping to make some MDS pages tonight...so check back to see those.

My Digital Studio - Not Just For Scrapboking

MDS - Journal - front

MDS - Journal -back
Sooo.....yes, Stampin' Up!'s annual convention has come and gone but I made this cute momento using My Digital Studio to use this year. I am sure it will remind me of all of the fun had at convention every time I use it. It's a quick and easy journal I made using the papers from the Convention download. I love the colors and the papers included in this download.

My daughter loved mine so much, she wanted to make one of her own. She loves zebra print so this was the closest design she could find that is reminiscent of a zebra. She's 12, and she did it all by herself.

If you don't have My Digital Studio, now is the time to give it a try. Not sure if you want to purchase it? Try the 30 day free trial by going HERE. You will love all of the possibilities it brings.

Got Hostesses?

Four You stamp set

So you've heard of the slogan,  "Got Milk?" well I thought I'd change it up a bit and start a new conversation..."Got Hostesses?" I know that is the big question these days, well there are many perks to being a hostess...
  • You'll enjoy some quality girl-time
  • You'll create projects that are playful and useful (look at today's card!)
  • You'll get FREE stuff that's beyond awesome
  • What's better than free?
This is one of the cards that I will demonstrate and guests will create at this month's Paper Parties. It uses the Four You stamp set along with the Beautifully Baroque Dry Embossing folder, the super cute Tea Lace Paper Doilies, and the Blossom Punch. Although there is very little stamping on this card I do believe it makes a statement just the same.

Tips and Tricks: Distressing your paper adds texture to your focal point. On this card, I distressed the Blossom punch after layering three of them, slightly off setting each of them as I added a new one. You can distress to the point of really loosening the fibers to create the look of material.

Quick Hostess Gift and Paper Pumpkin Fun

Well, Happy Monday, I hope you had a great weekend. I had a restful one, one that I really needed. Yesterday was a pretty fun day. I got together with my downline and they are an amazing group of ladies. We had a fun time chatting about Stampin' Up!, sharing ideas and experiences, snacking...and of course stamping! I am so blessed to be working with such a wonderful group of women. I see exciting times ahead for us! Here is a peek at what we made:
Hostess Gift idea - Label Love Stamp set

Hostess Gift idea..different view
These were quick and fun to make. We started with some chocolate nuggest. Took a strip of designer series paper cut at 7/8" X 3". We wrapped the Quatrefancy Specialty paper around the nuggets and used washi tape to adhere it together. Easy Peesy. This can be a quick hostess gift or a party favor.....or a Convention gift....I'm just saying...I just might have included these little trinkets in the gifts I shared with friends while away at Convention.
Designed by my second level upline, Gail Murray
This card was designed by my second level upline, Gail. We made one slight change to make it work with the supplies I had on hand. Gail used a different color baker's twine...I just went with the white that I had. It's still cute! I love this paper, it's the Quatrefancy Specialty paper. It also uses the Modern Mosaic Dry Embossing Folder and the Mosaic Madness, and Really Good Greetings stamp sets.

My Paper Pumpkin - Welcome Kit
This card, is the card that comes in your Welcome Kit when you sign up for My Paper Pumpkin. This card was soooo easy to make. We finished it in record time and we were even sharing supplies. Imagine how much quicker it would have been if we weren't. But....who wants to stamp alone when you can stamp with friends? Not me!

It's not too late to sign up for your own Paper Pumpkin. Sign up before August 10th and you'll get this set THIS very month! Remember: If you sign up before August 31st, You pay just $10.00 for the first two months. Check it out HERE
