MDS Friday - Sibling Style

There are many things in life that I love sitting back and watching, high on my list is watching my children play together and look out for one another. Another highlight in my life is watching my children play with their cousins. I have one sister and two brothers and between the four of us we have given our parents eleven grandchildren. Seeing the cousins all together brings me great joy. So hard to describe! My siblings and I get along so well, I don't think we have ever once had a disagreement that we couldn't talk out....at least one that I can remember. We are so like minded and are truly a package deal in most instances. If one of us isn't doing something, the rest of us lose a little bit of our gusto. Recently my youngest brother moved back into the area. He and his family were living in Costa Rico for three years!!!! Three long years, with annual visits back home. Just enough to make it bearable for those of us left state side.
We grew up as "The Johnson 4." Wonder where mom got that name:-)

Anyway, to make a long story even longer (LOL) we recently had a get together...we call it a "Sibling Supper." The four of us together along with all of our kids. Unfortunately we did have one missing. My oldest (busy being our newest college bound, high school graduate of 14 days) was/is away at a medical forum, so there were 10 cousins in tow ranging in age from 10 weeks to 24 years....WoW!!!!

Sibling Supper - June 2012 - My house
I decided to document these memories using MDS. I searched all my stamp sets for words that reflect what this group means to me. This was lots of fun...and time consuming but so well worth it.
Our little and not so little people from oldest to youngest
I can't wait for the MDS upgrade .... coming soon. It will be amazing to have a visible two page spread. Awesome, awesome!!!!

Another Blast Off Card

Blast Off, on Whisper White card stock, with Real Red, Midnight Muse, and Certainly Celery
Warning: Ughh! Here's another blurry photo from my phone. I love my phone but trying to get the picture from the phone onto my computer....I can, but something weird happens to the clarity. It uploads well to facebook but leaves something to be desired for my blog. I guess this is something for me to work on. I didn't have my digital camera available yet I  wanted to get a quick pic before heading to the birthday party that the card was made for. Hope my son's little friend liked his card. My son had a blast (pun intended) at the party.

This stamp set is definitely a keeper and lots of fun. If you don't have it yet,  you need to go on ahead and order it. I can't wait to see what they do with it at convention...cause' you know I'm going.Speaking of convention...swap cards!!!! I think I'd better get started. Have you started yours yet?

A Birthday Blast Off!

Blast Off stamp set, Whisper White Card Stock, Midnight Muse, Real Red, and Certainly Celery
This is one of my favorite kid stamp sets in the new catalog. It has so much flexibility. I love this rocket and what I love even more is that the flames are a separate punch which makes it easy to have different colors with the rocket. As for the alien, I stamped him on Whisper White card stock and then punched out the face, with my circle punch, then added dimensionals to make it sit up in the rocket. This was a quick and easy card...just my style!  I think this will be the stamp set I use to make  birthday cards, in bulk, for my boys to give to their friends this "Stampin' Up!" year. It really does help me to stay organized AND closer to being on time to a party when I have the cards on hand. Stay tuned tomorrow for another card using this stamp set.

A Betsy's Blossoms Thank You

Betsy's Blossom in Real Red with Retired dsp
This is one of the first stamp sets I ordered from the new catalog. I think the bird is super cute! I have been using the new ink pads....and I must say I am hooked. I can't use my old ones. I broke down and ordered all new ones. If you know anyone who wants the old ones. I have every color and will sell them for 2.00 each plus shipping and handling. Send me an email and I will get them right out to you.

I made these quick cards for end of the year thank yous for my kids teachers. I used a variety of retired dsp and changed up the cards a bit but kept the same layout. They each wrote a little thank you message to their teachers, we stuck it and a little gift into a gift bag and off to school they went.

First Cards of Summer

My first card of the summer using Patio Paper dsp
Summer is finally here! I just love this time of year. My kids and I are both off of school getting a much needed break. We just got back from a couple of days at the beach with good friends. It was just what we needed. The kids got to play in the ocean, dig holes in the sand, and ride the waves with boogie boards while my friend Sam and I lounged and chatted...oh and watched the kids too of course LOL. We even got some stamping time in. What can be better than going to the beach and stamping...could it be stampin ON the beach? I never tried that, it might be too windy to do but if given the opportunity, I'd definitely give it a try.

Zoë's cute card with a belly band and two pretty pearls

Maggie's pretty card with Summer Smooches dsp

Sam's cute cards with Summer Smooches, flower punch and pearls
Usually I plan out the cards we make for our trip to the beach but not this time. I just  grabbed lots of fun new product from my craft room and decided we'd just let creativity take over. This was a good move, a very good move.

I took these pics with my iphone and them mailed them to myself. I haven't figured out how to crop them so enjoy the large photos and all of the creativity in progress in the background.

A Blue Ribbon Birthday

My new stamps have arrived! Woohoo! This is one of the first cards I made using my new toys. I had so much fun making this card. I made it for my friend's  son's 9th birthday party. My friend always does everything in a big way so I decided to put lots of time and energy into this card for her special little guy. My boys and I went to the party and had an amazing time. This card was inspired by Teneale Williams. I just love her cards and get LOTS of ideas from her.

For this card I used the new Blue Ribbon stamp set, the patio Party Designer Series Paper. I would have used the coordinating World Spectacular Designer Series Paper...but I forgot to add it to my last order... I'll be sure to have it on my next one.
